Counter Sales Executive

Job Purpose

To attend to customers at the retail counter, understand their requirements and recommend suitable cakes, pastries, desserts and bakery products. The role is responsible for achieving sales targets, delivering excellent customer service, ensuring accurate billing, maintaining attractive product displays and following store hygiene and operational standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Counter Sales & Customer Service

Greet customers politely, understand their needs and assist them in selecting suitable products.

Explain product flavours, sizes, prices, ingredients and available options accurately.

Recommend products based on customer preferences, occasions and budgets.

Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, escalating issues when required.

2. Sales Target & Business Growth

Achieve daily, weekly and monthly sales targets assigned by the Store Manager.

Promote add-on products such as candles, cake toppers, chocolates, pastries and beverages, wherever available.

Use effective upselling and cross-selling techniques to improve average bill value.

Promote new launches, seasonal products, offers and customized cake bookings.

3. Billing & Cash Handling

Generate accurate bills using POS / Petpooja or the billing system used by the outlet.

Process cash, UPI, card and other approved payment modes accurately.

Follow discount, refund and cancellation approval procedures.

Maintain billing accuracy and complete cash/payment handover as per store process.

4. Product Display & Store Presentation

Maintain clean, attractive and properly arranged product displays.

Ensure product names, prices and display labels are correct and visible.

Check product availability and coordinate replenishment with the Store Manager.

Keep the counter, display cabinets and customer areas neat and presentable.

5. Product Quality & Inventory Support

Check product freshness, appearance, date labels and shelf life as per company procedures.

Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) practices wherever applicable.

Immediately report damaged, expired, defective or unsold products to the Store Manager.

Support stock counts and report low-stock requirements on time.

6. Hygiene, Grooming & Store Discipline

Follow personal hygiene, grooming, uniform and food-handling requirements.

Maintain cleanliness of the sales counter and surrounding areas.

Follow store opening/closing procedures, shift timings and attendance requirements.

Work cooperatively with colleagues and follow company policies and instructions.

Required Skills & Competencies

Good communication and customer-handling skills.

Basic selling, convincing, upselling and cross-selling abilities.

Interest in cakes, bakery products, desserts and retail sales.

Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with POS billing systems; Petpooja knowledge is an advantage.

Basic cash handling and digital payment processing skills.

Ability to work in a team, manage time and handle busy store hours.

Positive attitude, personal hygiene and customer-first approach.
