Lab Chemist (Sewage Treatment Plant)

An STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) Lab Chemist is responsible for monitoring, testing, and managing the chemical and biological processes of a wastewater treatment facility. Their primary goal is to ensure that treated water meets regulatory environmental standards before it is discharged or reused.

Key Responsibilities

1.     Perform routine testing on raw sewage, in-process water, and treated effluent.

Analyze critical water parameters using standard methods (like APHA or IS standards), including:

•  Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
•  Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
•  pH levels, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), and Residual Chlorine
•  Microbial testing such as Total Coliform and Fecal Coliform (MPN)
•  Oil & Grease levels
