Job Description
Oversee a specific station (e.g., sauté, pastry, fish, meat)
Ensure all dishes from that section are prepared consistently and on time
Maintain high standards of presentation and taste
Prepare ingredients (cutting, marinating, portioning)
Cook menu items according to recipes and standards
Assist in developing new dishes or specials
Guide and train commis chefs and kitchen assistants
Delegate tasks within the section
Monitor staff performance and discipline
Follow food safety and sanitation regulations
Keep the work area clean and organized
Ensure proper storage of food items
Monitor stock levels for the section
Order supplies or inform senior chefs when needed
Minimize waste and control food costs
Communicate with other sections for smooth service
Work closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef
Ensure timing aligns across all dishes during service
Check food quality before serving
Ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and plating
Handle any issues or complaints related to their section
