Relationship Officer - Mortagage

Job Summary

A Relationship Officer – Mortgage is responsible for generating business for mortgage and home loan products, building relationships with customers, sourcing loan applications, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely loan processing and disbursement. The role focuses on achieving sales targets while maintaining customer satisfaction and compliance with the bank's policies.

Key responsibilities

1. Customer Acquisition

• Identify and acquire new customers for home loans and mortgage loans.
• Generate leads through direct marketing, field visits, referrals, and other channels.
• Develop relationships with builders, real estate agents, and channel partners.

2. Sales and Business Development

• Promote mortgage products, including home loans, loan against property (LAP), and other secured lending products.
• Achieve monthly sales targets and business growth objectives.
• Cross-sell other banking products where appropriate.

3. Customer Relationship Management

• Understand customer financial requirements and recommend suitable loan products.
• Explain loan eligibility, interest rates, repayment terms, fees, and documentation requirements.
• Maintain long-term customer relationships and provide ongoing service.

4. Loan Processing and Documentation

• Collect and verify customer documents, including KYC, income proof, bank statements, and property documents.
• Coordinate with credit, legal, technical, and operations teams for loan assessment and approval.
• Follow up on applications until approval and disbursement.

5. Credit and Risk Management

• Conduct preliminary checks on customer eligibility and repayment capacity.
• Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, regulatory requirements, and internal lending policies.
• Identify potential risks and ensure accurate documentation.

6. Market Research and Reporting

• Monitor competitor products, market trends, and customer requirements.
• Maintain records of leads, applications, conversions, and disbursements.
• Submit regular sales reports and pipeline updates to the reporting manager.

Required Skills

• Graduate degree in any discipline; a finance or business-related qualification may be preferred.
• Experience in banking, home loans, mortgage lending, or financial services is preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of mortgage products, loan documentation, and basic credit assessment.
• Ability to generate leads, meet sales targets, and work in a field-sales environment.
• Good customer service, follow-up, and relationship management skills.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with CRM or loan origination systems.
