Purchase Engineer

1. Manage end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, bought-out components, fabricated parts, machining components, Mechanical/electrical/electronic items, consumables and general engineering materials.

2. Review purchase requisitions (PR), material requirements and production priorities.

3. Generate and release Purchase Orders (PO) as per approved requirements.

4. Ensure timely procurement of materials in line with production and project schedules.

1. Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, capacity and technical capability.

2. Conduct supplier visits and capability assessments where required.

3. Develop alternate sources for critical and single-source materials.

4. Maintain supplier performance records and conduct periodic supplier evaluations.

5. Work with suppliers for improvement in quality, delivery and cost.

6. Support supplier audits in coordination with the Quality team

Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery terms, MOQ and other commercial conditions with suppliers.

Obtain and compare multiple quotations for critical/high-value purchases.

Conduct should-cost / cost analysis wherever applicable.

Review material requirements against production plans and customer delivery commitments.

Coordinate with PPC and Production to prioritize critical materials.

Monitor supplier delivery schedules and expedite delayed materials.

Maintain a critical material / shortage tracker.

Ensure timely procurement for new projects and urgent customer requirements.

Take proactive action on potential material shortages affecting production or OTD

Create and maintain Purchase Orders, supplier master data and procurement records in ERP.

Maintain quotation comparison statements and supplier evaluation records.

Monitor PO amendments, delivery schedules and pending orders.

Ensure proper documentation of procurement activities.

Prepare MIS reports related to purchase performance, cost savings, pending POs and supplier delivery.
