Job Description
An ITI Trainee is an entry-level technical role for candidates who have completed an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certification under NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) or SCVT (State Council for Vocational Training). Trainees work under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers to gain hands-on shop-floor experience in manufacturing, production, or maintenance environments. [1, 2]
Core Responsibilities
- Machine & Equipment Operation: Operate or assist in running production machinery, assembly lines, or power systems according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). [1]
- Maintenance & Repair: Support routine preventive and breakdown maintenance for mechanical, electrical, or trade-specific equipment. [1, 2]
- Quality Inspection: Check raw materials and finished components using measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, or gauges. [1, 2]
- Technical Assistance: Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, blueprints, or wiring diagrams. [1, 2]
- Safety & Compliance: Follow factory safety rules, wear required protective equipment (PPE), and maintain workplace cleanliness (5S / housekeeping). [1]
- Skill Development: Participate actively in training sessions, mentorship programs, and on-the-job (OJT) modules. [1]
Required Qualifications & Eligibility
- Education: ITI Pass certificate in a relevant trade (such as Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, Turner, Welder, Diesel Mechanic, or Electronics Mechanic). [1]
- Age Limit: Typically between 18 to 30 or 32 years, depending on company or government norms. [1]
- Experience: Freshers are generally welcomed; prior apprenticeship or brief industrial exposure is a bonus. [1]
- Key Skills: Basic technical aptitude, familiarity with hand/power tools, physical fitness for shop-floor shifts, and teamwork/communication skills. [1]
Compensation & Benefits (Typical Range)
- Stipend / Salary: ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 per month (depending on the company, location, and shift pattern).
- Statutory Benefits: Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESIC), subsidized food/canteen, and overtime allowances. [1]
