Job Description
Role: Digital Marketing & Lead Generation Intern
Company: Solargica Power Pvt. Ltd.
Location: Pune – Work From Office
Positions: 2
Duration: 3 Months
Type: Full-time, Paid Internship
Compensation: Fixed monthly stipend + performance incentives
What I would make the job aboutThe important line should be:
“We are not looking for someone who can generate 30 posts using AI. We are looking for someone willing to go into the market, speak to people, understand solar customers, create original content and build genuine enquiries.”
That separates this internship from thousands of generic social-media internships.
Intern 1 — Content, Social Media & Organic GrowthResponsibilities would include:
- Manage Solargica Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn pages
- Prepare and publish daily original posts
- Shoot and edit short reels from actual projects
- Visit installation sites with the technical team when required
- Interview customers, technicians, engineers and company leadership
- Create before/after installation stories
- Develop educational solar content
- Prepare WhatsApp Status creatives
- Maintain/update WhatsApp Business catalogue
- Create festival, offer, service and awareness creatives
- Convert actual customer questions into content
- Reply to comments and basic social enquiries
- Participate in relevant Pune online communities
- Build organic followers rather than purchased followers
- Take photographs/videos of installations
- Maintain a content calendar
- Track reach, engagement, enquiries and conversions
I'd deliberately not put follower count as the main KPI.
Better KPIs:
Original content → engagement → enquiries → qualified enquiries.
Intern 2 — Website, Research & Lead OperationsThis is actually an equally important role.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain website pages
- Update project photographs, products, offers and service information
- Check website enquiry forms every day
- Test whether forms and contact buttons are working
- Maintain enquiry database
- Collect publicly available business/prospect information
- Research potential:
- Industries
- Commercial properties
- Housing societies
- Hotels
- Hospitals
- Schools/colleges
- Petrol pumps
- Warehouses
- Solar system owners needing service
- Clean and organize prospect data
- Remove duplicates
- Grade incoming leads
- Pass qualified leads to the sales team
- Maintain follow-up status
- Identify where each enquiry originated
- Produce weekly lead reports
I would introduce a simple grading system:
GradeMeaningAImmediate requirement + decision maker + suitable property/billBInterested, project likely within 1–3 monthsCPotential customer requiring nurturingDRaw database/prospectXInvalid/irrelevant enquiryThe intern shouldn't merely say:
“We received 27 leads.”They should eventually be able to say:
“We received 27 leads. 6 are A-grade, 8 B-grade, 7 C-grade and 6 invalid. 11 came from Instagram, 7 from Google, 5 from WhatsApp and 4 from referrals.”That information will become extremely useful to your sales team.
The “Less AI” ruleI like your thinking here, but I wouldn't completely ban AI.
Make the rule:
AI may assist. AI may not replace the work.
For example:
Allowed:
- Grammar correction
- Caption alternatives
- Research assistance
- Subtitle generation
- Basic editing assistance
Not acceptable:
- AI-generated generic solar posts every day
- Fake photographs
- Fake testimonials
- Copy-pasted articles
- 100 automated comments
- Generic AI reels with stock solar footage
- Uploading something they don't understand
Instead, require something like:
At least 60–70% of Solargica's content should originate from actual Solargica activity.
Projects, people, customers, problems, maintenance calls, products, engineering discussions, site visits, questions, failures and solutions.
That's where your organic advantage will come from.
Three-month internship structureMonth 1 — Learn + Build
They learn Solargica, solar basics, customers, existing website/social channels, photography/video, enquiry process and sales funnel.
Target:
- Clean social profiles
- Update website
- Organize WhatsApp catalogue
- Build content calendar
- Establish lead database
- Start regular posting
Month 2 — Execute + Experiment
Start trying different formats.
Project videos, customer stories, engineer interviews, FAQs, educational reels, founder conversations, site walkthroughs, before/after posts, myth-busting, installation videos.
Measure what actually produces enquiries.
Month 3 — Growth + Conversion
Now the question becomes:
Which activity actually brings Solargica business?
The interns should identify the best channels, best content formats, best lead categories and repeatable processes.
At the end of three months, you should have a Digital Marketing SOP, not merely 180 Instagram posts.
IncentivesKeep the stipend fixed enough that they aren't desperate to generate junk leads.
Then add incentives around outcomes.
For example:
Monthly stipend: ₹8,000–₹12,000
depending on skill/experience.
Plus incentives such as:
- Qualified verified lead: ₹50–₹100
- Customer survey/site visit generated: ₹250–₹500
- Successfully converted residential project: ₹500–₹1,000
- Larger commercial/industrial opportunity: separate incentive
- Exceptional reel/content reaching meaningful organic numbers: bonus
But don't reward raw lead quantity. Otherwise you'll get useless databases.
Reward qualified opportunities.
One thing I would add: fieldworkThis is important.
Don't let these interns spend three months permanently sitting behind Canva.
Make the internship roughly:
60% office + 20% field/content + 20% research/experimentation.
Send them occasionally with your installation/service team.
A young marketer standing beside an engineer asking:
“Sir, why did this inverter stop working?”
and filming the answer can produce better solar content than 20 designed posters.
Candidate profileDon't overemphasize degrees.
Look for someone who:
- Can communicate confidently
- Isn't afraid of speaking to strangers
- Can write reasonable English
- Marathi/Hindi communication is a major advantage
- Knows Canva/basic graphic design
- Can shoot usable smartphone video
- Can edit reels
- Understands Instagram/LinkedIn
- Knows basic Excel/Google Sheets
- Has curiosity about websites
- Is willing to learn WordPress or your CMS
- Likes research
- Can work independently
- Is willing to travel locally for content
- Can come to office full time
- Is available for the complete 3 months
Selection testI would not select them purely through interviews.
Give shortlisted applicants a 60–90 minute practical task:
- Give them 10 raw photos from one Solargica installation.
- Ask them to create one Instagram post.
- Ask them to suggest a 30-second reel.
- Give them 15 sample enquiries and ask them to grade the leads.
- Ask them to suggest five things they would change on Solargica's Instagram/website.
- Give them a phone and ask them to interview one Solargica technician for two minutes.
You'll understand their capability immediately.
And one question I'd definitely ask:
“You have no advertising budget for the next 30 days. How will you bring Solargica 20 genuine enquiries?”
Their answer will tell you whether they're a marketer or simply a Canva operator.
Most important expectationDon't advertise this merely as an internship.
Position it as:
“3 Months. Build a Real Brand. Generate Real Business.”
That will attract a very different type of candidate.
At the end of three months, I would consider offering the strongest performer a permanent Digital Marketing & Growth Executive position. This gives ambitious candidates a reason to treat the internship seriously.
