# JOB DESCRIPTION – FACTORY MANAGER

**Position:** Factory Manager

**Department:** Production / Operations

**Reporting To:** Managing Director / Director

**Location:** Pune

**Employment Type:** Full-Time

## 1. Job Purpose

The Factory Manager will be responsible for the overall management of factory operations, including production planning, manpower management, quality control, maintenance, inventory, safety, and timely execution of production and dispatch activities.

The Factory Manager will ensure that factory operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company policies, quality standards, and production targets.

## 2. Key Responsibilities

### A. Shop Floor & Operations

* Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily production activities.

* Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned timelines.

* Prepare production schedules based on orders and business requirements.

* Monitor machine utilization and production efficiency.

* Ensure smooth coordination between Production, Stores, Purchase, Quality, Service, and Dispatch departments.

* Identify production bottlenecks and take corrective action.

* Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machines, tools, and materials.

* Maintain proper production records and reports.

### B. Manpower Management

* Allocate work and responsibilities to factory employees.

* Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline, and productivity.

* Ensure adequate manpower availability for daily production requirements.

* Conduct regular team meetings and provide work instructions.

* Identify training requirements and coordinate employee training.

* Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to management.

* Ensure employees follow company rules, procedures, and workplace discipline.

### C. Quality Control

* Ensure products are manufactured according to defined quality standards.

* Coordinate with the Quality/Testing Department for inspection and testing.

* Ensure proper handling of rejected, defective, and rework material.

* Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.

* Maintain proper quality and inspection records.

* Ensure compliance with company SOPs and ISO requirements.

### D. Machine & Maintenance Management

* Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all machines and equipment.

* Prepare and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.

* Coordinate breakdown maintenance and minimize machine downtime.

* Maintain machine maintenance records.

* Ensure tools, equipment, and production machinery are used safely and correctly.

* Report major machine breakdowns and maintenance requirements to management.

### E. Stores & Inventory

* Coordinate with Stores/Purchase for timely availability of raw materials and components.

* Monitor consumption of materials and avoid unnecessary wastage.

* Ensure proper storage and identification of raw materials, finished goods, and rejected materials.

* Conduct and support periodic stock verification.

* Report shortages, excess stock, or damaged materials to management.

* Ensure proper documentation for material inward and outward movement.

### F. Safety & Compliance

* Ensure all employees follow factory safety rules and procedures.

* Ensure proper use of PPE wherever required.

* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace.

* Identify workplace hazards and take preventive measures.

* Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately to management.

* Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, safety, and environmental requirements.

### G. Dispatch & Delivery Coordination

* Coordinate with the Dispatch Department to ensure timely dispatch of completed products.

* Ensure finished goods are properly inspected, packed, labelled, and documented before dispatch.

* Coordinate with Sales/Service/Accounts wherever required for dispatch requirements.

* Monitor pending production and dispatch commitments.

### H. Reporting & Documentation

* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly factory reports.

* Submit production and manpower reports to management.

* Maintain records related to production, quality, maintenance, inventory, and dispatch.

* Monitor production KPIs and report deviations.

* Maintain proper documentation as required for ISO and internal audits.

* Immediately escalate major operational issues to management.

## 3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The Factory Manager will be evaluated based on:

* Achievement of production targets.

* On-time completion of production schedules.

* Production efficiency and productivity.

* Reduction in material wastage and rework.

* Quality and rejection rate.

* Machine utilization and downtime.

* Manpower productivity and attendance.

* Inventory control.

* Timely dispatch of finished goods.

* Compliance with safety and company procedures.

* Maintenance of proper factory records and documentation.

## 4. Required Skills & Competencies

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

## 5. Qualification & Experience

**Qualification:** Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant field.

**Experience:** 5–10 years of relevant experience in factory, production, manufacturing, or operations management.

Experience in battery manufacturing, battery regeneration, electrical equipment, electronics, or related manufacturing industries will be an added advantage.

## 6. Authority & Accountability

The Factory Manager is responsible and accountable for the effective functioning of the factory and shall coordinate with management and concerned departments for achieving production, quality, safety, and dispatch objectives.

Any major production, manpower, quality, safety, maintenance, or operational issue must be promptly reported to the Management.

## 7. Working Conditions

* Full-time factory-based position.

* Monday to Saturday, as per company working schedule.

* May be required to work additional hours depending on production requirements.

* Must strictly follow factory safety, discipline, and operational procedures.
