Job Summary

This position collaborates with business stakeholders, solution engineers, architects, product owners, and Agile teams to design, develop, test, and deploy Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration and integration solutions for insurance initiatives. The role provides advanced hands-on expertise across PolicyCenter configuration, Gosu development, APIs, messaging, batch processing, and cloud delivery practices. It contributes to technically sound, reusable, maintainable, and secure solutions, performs detailed impact analysis, and delivers production-ready functionality each sprint with limited guidance from senior engineers or architects.

Essential Job Functions

Codes and configures programs, objects, components, and packaged software across applications to deliver required business functionality.

Provides advanced technical input to solution design and application functionality, ensuring alignment with business needs, architectural standards, and platform best practices.

Reviews and validates code, configuration, and supporting documentation produced by team members.

Develops reusable and maintainable application components with attention to performance, security, reliability, and efficient resource utilization.

Performs impact assessments across people, processes, data, applications, and integrations before implementing changes.

Analyzes existing manual and automated processes and implements improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

Researches and applies automation techniques to improve development, testing, deployment, and operational support.

Performs quality checks on code, configuration, related components, test evidence, and documentation; delivers working code incrementally each sprint.

Supports implementation and release activities, troubleshoots environment and production issues, performs root cause analysis, and drives corrective actions.

Supports CI/CD and DevOps pipelines, automated builds and deployments, environment troubleshooting, release readiness, and production support.

Provides technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to junior team members when needed.

Special Skill Requirements

Minimum 7 years of experience in solution engineering, software development, or a related technology field.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, including configuration and integration development.

Hands-on experience implementing Guidewire PolicyCenter in a SaaS/cloud model or supporting migration from an on-premises or self-managed implementation to SaaS.

Experience designing and developing page configuration files, business rules, data models, extensions, and GUnit tests.

Experience integrating PolicyCenter with internal and external portals and enterprise systems.

Experience with Gosu, REST services, Guidewire APIs, messaging, events, message queues, plugins, and batch processes.

Experience with Advanced Product Designer is preferred; Jutro Digital Platform experience is a plus.

Property and casualty insurance domain knowledge, including products, coverages, underwriting processes, and integration touchpoints.

Configures and enhances PolicyCenter product model, rules, workflows, user interface components, data model, and extensions using Gosu and Guidewire standards.

Agile Delivery and Collaboration

Breaks down features and refines user stories with clear technical tasks and acceptance criteria.

Partners with the Product Owner to confirm that implementation and acceptance tests reflect the intended functionality.

Participates in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities.

Commits to team PI objectives and sprint goals, proactively communicates progress and impediments, and takes ownership of assigned deliverables.

Practices continuous exploration, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.

Shares knowledge and best practices, contributes to Communities of Practice, and promotes continuous learning and improvement.

Conducts research, design, and prototyping activities that foster innovation and align delivered solutions with customer needs.

Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, declarative concepts, defensive coding, error handling, version control, and CI/CD.

Broad knowledge of insurance concepts, terminology, products, and business processes across relevant business areas.

Education and Certification Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field preferred.

Guidewire Configuration and Integration Associate certified.
