Job Description
The Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and controlling the procurement of materials, products, equipment, and services required by the organization. The role focuses on ensuring timely availability of required materials at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards, supplier performance, inventory efficiency, and compliance with company procurement policies.
The Procurement Manager will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate commercial terms, manage supplier relationships, monitor market conditions, and coordinate with internal departments to meet operational and business requirements.
- Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain quotations, conduct commercial comparisons, and negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual conditions.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with approved purchase requisitions and company procedures.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and services are procured at the required quality, quantity, price, and delivery schedule.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to prevent delays.
- Coordinate with production, projects, engineering, stores, quality, finance, and other departments regarding procurement requirements.
- Develop alternative suppliers to reduce dependency on single-source vendors and minimize supply-chain risks.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations based on quality, cost, delivery, service, and responsiveness.
- Maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and negotiate long-term supply agreements where appropriate.
- Monitor commodity prices, supplier markets, logistics costs, and industry trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead cost-reduction, value-engineering, and supplier-development initiatives.
- Review purchase requisitions, specifications, drawings, scope of work, and technical requirements before sourcing.
- Coordinate technical and commercial clarification between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, approval limits, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation, supplier records, quotations, comparative statements, contracts, and purchase-order records.
- Coordinate with finance for invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and supplier account reconciliation.
- Work with stores and inventory teams to optimize stock levels and avoid shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete stock.
- Manage urgent and critical procurement requirements without compromising commercial controls.
- Support import procurement, freight coordination, customs documentation, and international supplier management where applicable.
- Prepare procurement reports, savings reports, supplier performance reports, and management dashboards.
- Lead, supervise, and develop procurement team members where applicable.
- Supplier ManagementEstablish supplier qualification and selection criteria.
- Conduct supplier audits and periodic performance reviews.
- Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery, pricing, documentation, or service.
- Develop strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
- Maintain an approved vendor database.
- Identify backup suppliers for critical materials and services.

- QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management such as CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent is preferred.
- Relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply-chain management.
- Previous experience managing suppliers and conducting commercial negotiations is preferred.
ExperienceTypically 5–10 years of relevant procurement or supply-chain experience, including supervisory or managerial responsibility, depending on the size and complexity of the organization.
