Operations Management (Plant Head)

Location: Chakan, Pune

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director – Operations Management (Plant Head) to lead and oversee all manufacturing operations at our Ambernath facility. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring product quality, maintaining safety standards, optimizing costs, and building a high-performance culture across the plant.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping manufacturing strategy, delivering business objectives, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve operational and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing performance.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to achieve production, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Monitor production schedules, capacity utilization, material consumption, and equipment effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.

People Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing manufacturing organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Coach and mentor leaders across operations and support functions.
  • Drive workforce capability development through effective training and succession planning.

Quality Management

  • Ensure products consistently meet customer expectations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality systems and process controls.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Safety, Compliance, and Sustainability

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and corrective action programs.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and statutory requirements.

Financial and Cost Management

  • Develop and manage plant operating budgets.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality, safety, and customer service standards.
  • Monitor operational expenses and resource utilization to maximize profitability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Human Resources, and Commercial teams to support business objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on plant performance, key initiatives, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives, capacity expansion, and operational transformation programs.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale manufacturing operations in an engineering or industrial environment.
  • Significant experience managing cross-functional teams and complex operational challenges.
  • Experience in production planning, process optimization, quality management, and operational excellence initiatives.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements and deliver business results.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and team development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience using performance metrics and data-driven decision-making.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
