Job Description
OT Technician
Department: Operation Theatre
Location: Raipur, Chhattisgarh
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience: 1–3 years preferred
About the Role
We are looking for a responsible and technically skilled OT Technician to support our surgical team in the smooth and safe functioning of the Operation Theatre. The candidate will be responsible for OT preparation, surgical assistance, sterilization, equipment handling, and maintaining OT protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the OT before every scheduled procedure, including instruments, equipment, consumables, and surgical sets.
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
- Arrange and check surgical instruments, sutures, implants, consumables, and other required materials.
- Ensure proper functioning and availability of OT equipment before procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning and transfer as directed by the clinical team.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection-control practices inside the OT.
- Perform and document instrument, sponge, needle, and swab counts as per hospital protocol.
- Handle surgical specimens appropriately and ensure correct labeling and transfer.
- Assist with cleaning, disinfection, packing, and sterilization of instruments.
- Coordinate with CSSD and OT nursing staff for instrument and sterile-set availability.
- Maintain OT registers, checklists, and required documentation.
- Check emergency equipment and ensure essential OT supplies are available.
- Maintain proper stock of OT consumables and inform the concerned person about shortages.
- Assist in maintaining and handling specialized OT equipment and instruments.
- Ensure proper cleaning and turnover of the OT between procedures.
- Follow hospital policies, NABH standards, infection-control protocols, and medico-legal requirements.
- Report equipment malfunction, shortage, breakage, contamination, or any OT-related incident immediately to the concerned senior.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, confidentiality, and professional conduct within the OT.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of relevant hospital/OT experience preferred.
- Experience in ENT and general surgical procedures will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of sterilization, infection control, surgical instruments, and OT protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under time-sensitive situations.
