Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled CNC/VMC Programmer to write programs, set up machines and run production on CNC turning and VMC machining centres. You will make sure parts are machined to drawing specifications with good quality and on-time delivery.
- Key Responsibilities
- Read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T and job process sheets
- Create CNC/VMC programs using CAM software (Mastercam / Fusion 360 / SolidCAM / NX CAM) or manual G-code and M-code
- Set up machines, fixtures, work offsets and tool offsets
- Select suitable cutting tools, speeds, feeds and machining strategies
- Run proving and trial cuts, then optimise programs to reduce cycle time
- Inspect parts using vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, height gauge and other instruments
- Maintain tool life, reduce rejections and keep rework low
- Carry out daily machine maintenance and keep the work area clean (5S)
- Maintain production, program and tooling records
- Guide and support machine operators and helpers
- Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of G-code and M-code
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc, Siemens or Mitsubishi controllers
- Experience on VMC (3-axis; 4-axis is an added advantage) and CNC lathe
- Good knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, fixtures and workholding
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Basic knowledge of materials (MS, SS, aluminium, brass, etc.)
- Good understanding of measuring instruments and quality standards
- Qualification
- ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or CNC Programming certification
- Candidates with equivalent practical experience may also apply
- Good to HaveExperience in the automotive, precision engineering or die and mould industry
- Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD / SolidWorks)
- Basic knowledge of CMM or quality documentation
