Design And Development Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Design & Development Engineer to design new products, improve existing ones and take them from concept to production. You will work closely with the production, quality and purchase teams to deliver cost-effective, manufacturable designs.

• Key Responsibilities

• Understand customer requirements and convert them into product designs and specifications
• Create 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software
• Prepare accurate BOMs, drawings and technical documentation
• Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up and standard design practices
• Carry out design calculations, strength checks and basic simulation (FEA) where required
• Select suitable materials, standard components and manufacturing processes
• Build prototypes and coordinate trials, testing and validation
• Analyse test results and failures, then improve designs
• Work with the production and CNC teams to make designs easy to manufacture (DFM/DFA)
• Reduce product cost through value engineering (VA/VE)
• Manage design changes and maintain revision control (ECN/ECR)
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for development parts and tooling
• Support customer queries and technical discussions

• Required Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks / AutoCAD / Creo / CATIA / NX)
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, machine design and engineering fundamentals
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, casting and welding
• Knowledge of materials and heat treatment
• Ability to read and prepare detailed engineering drawings
• Good problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
• Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office

• Qualification

• B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or Automobile / Production)

• Good to Have

• Experience with FEA or simulation tools (ANSYS / SolidWorks Simulation)
• Knowledge of PLM / ERP systems
• Exposure to quality tools such as FMEA, APQP and PPAP
• Experience in the automotive, machinery, hydraulics or precision engineering industry
