Purpose of the role

Supervise daily civil construction work at the site, ensuring it is completed to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety norms and schedule.

Key responsibilities

•     Supervise all civil works, including excavation, foundation, RCC, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring and finishing

•     Interpret drawings and ensure work is executed exactly as per approved designs and BOQ

•     Plan daily and weekly work with contractors and allocate manpower and equipment

•     Monitor progress against the project schedule and report delays with corrective actions

•     Maintain an inventory of all materials arriving at site, recording quantities, specifications, supplier details and storage location, and verify receipts against purchase orders and delivery challans

•     Monitor material utilisation against the approved BOQ, reconcile consumption with work done, and report variances, wastage or shortages promptly

•     Monitor quality of work continuously and ensure the finished product matches the design intent, approved drawings, specifications and the standards desired by the management

•     Carry out quality checks on materials and workmanship, including concrete cube tests, steel reinforcement checks, shuttering and levels, and get non conforming work rectified before the next stage proceeds

•     Verify and approve contractor measurements and support running bill certification

•     Maintain site records: daily progress reports, material receipt and consumption registers, labour attendance, site instructions and snag lists

•     Enforce safety rules, PPE use and housekeeping; report incidents immediately

•     Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP teams and vendors

•     Control material wastage and flag cost overruns early

•     Support handover through inspections, snag closure and documentation

Qualifications

•     B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering

Experience

•     5 to 8 years in building construction site execution (B.E./B.Tech), or 8 to 10 years (Diploma)

•     Experience on institutional, commercial or large building projects preferred

Skills

•     Strong drawing reading and quantity estimation

•     Inventory and material reconciliation against BOQ

•     Working knowledge of IS codes and quality practices

•     Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD; familiarity with project scheduling tools is an advantage

•     Good communication in Malayalam and English (Hindi or Tamil a plus)

•     Firm, fair leadership with contractors and labour teams

Working conditions

Full time at site; occasional extended hours during critical pours or deadlines.
