Sr. Software Engineer - IoT Job

About the Role :

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer with strong expertise in Python-based backend development and IoT platform integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing scalable APIs, processing IoT device data, optimizing backend systems, and building secure, high-performance applications that support connected devices and real-time data processing.

Experience :

4 - 5 Years

Key Responsibilities :

Develop and maintain backend services and APIs for IoT platforms and connected device ecosystems.
Design and build scalable RESTful APIs using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF).
Implement data ingestion, processing, aggregation, and caching solutions for IoT telemetry data.
Develop asynchronous and background processing workflows using Celery, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
Integrate IoT devices, gateways, and third-party platforms through secure APIs and WebSockets.
Optimize database performance and ensure efficient handling of high-volume device data.
Implement authentication and security mechanisms using JWT and OAuth2.
Collaborate with front-end, cloud, and IoT teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Ensure application reliability through testing, monitoring, logging, and CI/CD practices.
Participate in Agile development, code reviews, and technical discussions.

Technical Skills :

Strong expertise in Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF) for building scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs.
Experience in developing IoT-enabled backend systems for device connectivity, telemetry data ingestion, real-time processing, and system integration.
Proficiency in asynchronous programming, background job processing, and task scheduling using Celery, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
Hands-on experience with REST APIs, WebSocket integration, and secure API development using JWT and OAuth2 authentication.
Strong knowledge of Microservices Architecture and distributed application design.
Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB, including database design, optimization, indexing, and query performance tuning.
Expertise in data aggregation, caching strategies, and performance optimization for high-volume applications.
Familiarity with Docker, Linux, Nginx, Git, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and DevOps practices.
Experience in API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI standards.
Strong understanding of logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and system observability.
Proficiency in unit testing and automated testing frameworks such as PyTest.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Preferred IoT Skills :

Device integration, telemetry data processing, real-time data streaming, event-driven systems, and scalable backend platforms for connected devices.

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in Python and Django development.
Experience with IoT applications, REST APIs, and Microservices.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Familiarity with Docker, Git, Redis, RabbitMQ, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Understanding of API security and Agile development practices.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Industrial IoT (IIoT) experience is a plus.
