Fabrication Fitter

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fabrication Fitter to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for laying out, cutting, fitting, and assembling structural steel and metal components according to engineering blueprints and technical drawings. Precision, adherence to quality standards, and a strong commitment to workplace safety are essential for this role.

• Key Responsibilities
• Reading & Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Layout & Marking: Measure, mark out, and scribe metal stock (plates, beams, pipes, and structural sections) using squares, calipers, and tape measures.
• Cutting & Preparation: Operate cutting equipment (such as oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, saws, and shears) to shape raw metal stock.
• Fitting & Assembly: Align, fit, and tack-weld or bolt metal parts together to assemble structural frames, vessels, machine components, or sub-assemblies.
• Machining & Finishing: Use hand and power tools (grinders, drills, files, and sanders) to smooth, grind, and finish joints or components to exact specifications.
• Collaboration: Work closely with welders, quality inspectors, and other workshop team members to ensure seamless project execution.
• Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized work area, perform pre-use checks on tools and machinery, and strictly adhere to all company health and safety (H&S) regulations.
• Job Requirements & Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma; ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification or Diploma in Mechanical / Fabrication Engineering is strongly preferred.
• Experience: [Insert Number, e.g., 3 to 6+] years of proven hands-on experience as a Fabrication Fitter in heavy/light engineering, structural steel, or manufacturing.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in reading fabrication and structural blueprints.
• Working knowledge of basic welding processes (SMAW/MMAW, MIG, or TIG) and thermal cutting tools.
• Expert handling of workshop hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Physical Requirements:
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials, stand for long hours, and work in awkward postures or at heights when required.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, good problem-solving capabilities, punctuality, and an ability to work well within a team.
