Job Title: Chemist / QC Chemist – Salt Plant

About the Role
We are looking for a Chemist / QC Chemist to join our Salt Plant Quality Control team. The candidate will be responsible for testing raw salt, brine, and finished salt, monitoring product quality, maintaining laboratory records, and ensuring that products meet required quality standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical and physical testing of raw salt, brine, intermediate products, and finished salt.
- Perform analysis of key quality parameters such as:
- NaCl / Salt Purity
- Moisture
- Insoluble Matter
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Sulphate
- pH, conductivity, and other relevant parameters
- Collect samples from in house Plant of the production process and maintain proper sampling records.
- Monitor product quality during various stages of salt production and processing.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as:
- pH Meter
- Conductivity Meter
- Moisture Analyzer
- Weighing Balance
- Titration Equipment
- Other laboratory testing instruments
- Prepare and standardize chemical solutions, reagents, and indicators required for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain daily laboratory test reports, QC records, batch records, and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
- Ensure that finished products comply with customer specifications, quality standards, and company requirements.
- Immediately report any out-of-specification (OOS) results to the Production / QA team.
- Assist in identifying quality issues and support corrective and preventive actions when required.
- Follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, chemical handling guidelines, and PPE requirements.
- Assist in the calibration, verification, and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper housekeeping of the laboratory.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of chemicals and laboratory samples.
Qualification
- B.Sc. in Chemistry – Preferred
- M.Sc. in Chemistry – Advantageous
- Diploma in Chemistry / Chemical Laboratory or equivalent qualification may also be considered based on company requirements.
Experience.
- Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in Salt, Chemical, Mineral, or Manufacturing QC Laboratories will be preferred.
- Experience in salt analysis, wet chemical analysis, and laboratory testing will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of Titration and Wet Chemical Analysis
- Basic knowledge of laboratory instruments and testing procedures
- Ability to perform accurate sampling and chemical analysis
- Knowledge of Quality Control procedures and documentation
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and report preparation
- Understanding of SOPs, laboratory safety, and chemical handling
- Good observation and analytical skills
- Ability to maintain accurate laboratory records
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong understanding of basic chemistry and laboratory practices.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in testing and reporting.
- Ability to work independently as well as with the Production and QA teams.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing plant / laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of salt quality parameters and industrial chemical testing will be an advantage.
