Job Description
- Key ResponsibilitiesPerform rigging, lifting, shifting and positioning of heavy equipment and materials.
- Assist Engineering & Maintenance teams during equipment installation, dismantling, relocation and shutdown activities.
- Handle lifting of equipment such as:
- Reactors
- Agitators
- Centrifuges
- Filter dryers
- Pumps
- Motors
- Gearboxes
- Heat exchangers
- Storage tanks
- Scrubbers
- Utility equipment
- Carry out rigging activities using chain blocks, wire ropes, slings, shackles, lifting belts, pulleys and other approved lifting accessories.
- Assist in crane, hydra and forklift operations as per authorized procedures.
- Select appropriate slings, shackles and lifting accessories based on load and lifting requirements.
- Check lifting tools and tackles for damage, wear and defects before use.
- Ensure proper load balancing, center of gravity, hooking and securing before lifting.
- Guide crane/hydra operators using standard hand signals or approved communication systems.
- Barricade lifting areas and ensure unauthorized personnel do not enter the lifting zone.
- Assist during erection and dismantling of process equipment and structures.
- Support maintenance teams during plant shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
- Follow approved lifting plans and method statements for critical/heavy lifts.
- Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work, LOTO, Working at Height and Hot Work requirements, wherever applicable.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around the work area.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged lifting equipment and near misses immediately.
- Follow all EHS, GMP and site safety procedures applicable to API manufacturing.
