Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description: Mechanical Designer – Signage ProductsJob OverviewWe are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to design and develop signage products. The role primarily focuses on AutoCAD drafting, preparation of mechanical drawings, and understanding and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacturing and installation.

The ideal candidate should have strong 2D drafting skills, knowledge of mechanical components, and the ability to read and understand technical drawings.

• Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare 2D mechanical drawings and fabrication drawings for signage products using AutoCAD.
• Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed component drawings.
• Create accurate drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing details.
• Develop part drawings, assembly drawings, and exploded views as required.
• Understand signage structures, mounting arrangements, brackets, frames, enclosures, and other mechanical components.
• Revise drawings based on design changes, customer requirements, and production feedback.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, clear, and suitable for manufacturing and assembly.
• Coordinate with production, fabrication, and installation teams to clarify drawing-related queries.
• Check drawings for dimensional accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain drawing files, revision records, and documentation.
• Required Skills and QualificationsDiploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D drafting.
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical and fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, orthographic views, sections, and assembly details.
• Basic understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, bending, cutting, and fastening methods.
• Ability to understand design intent and convert concepts or sketches into detailed engineering drawings.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and meet project deadlines.
• Preferred ExperienceExperience in mechanical drafting, fabrication, sheet metal products, or signage manufacturing.
• Familiarity with signage structures, illuminated signs, letter signage, display systems, and mounting hardware.
• Basic knowledge of materials such as aluminium, MS, SS, acrylic, and other signage-related materials.

Key Selection CriteriaThe candidate will be evaluated primarily on:

1. AutoCAD drafting skills – ability to prepare accurate and clear 2D drawings.
2. Drawing interpretation – ability to read and understand engineering and fabrication drawings independently.
3. Dimensional accuracy – ability to identify dimensions, views, sections, and assembly requirements.
4. Manufacturing understanding – ability to prepare practical drawings that can be understood by the production team.
