What you’ll be doing
Develop and support software solutions that enhance BT Group’s digital and telecom services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and customer-focused technology solutions.
Learn, contribute, and grow within an agile engineering environment while helping improve network operations
Essential Skills / Experience
Strong expertise in Java 17 and/or Java 21.
Proven experience in designing and developing Microservices-based architectures using Spring Boot.
Strong understanding of inter-service communication patterns using REST and asynchronous messaging.
Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including Producers, Consumers, Consumer Groups, Partitioning, Replication, and Message Delivery Guarantees.
Experience building Event-Driven Architectures and implementing patterns such as Saga, Outbox, Circuit Breaker, Retry, and Bulkhead.
Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL.
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
Solid understanding of ACID, CAP Theorem, Sharding, Replication, and Distributed Systems concepts.
Experience optimizing database performance, query tuning, indexing, and data modelling.
Strong knowledge of Java concurrency, multithreading, Completable Future, and Virtual Threads.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle, and DevOps practices.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, or ELK Stack.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in production support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills.
Desirable Skills / Experience
Java with Spring boot

Native app deployment using Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
