Responsibilities

Atlassian runs thousands of microservices in the cloud. Micros is Atlassian’s internal Platform‑as‑a‑Service (PaaS) that powers those services - handling build, deploy, runtime and operations so product teams can ship features instead of building their own infrastructure.

Micros Central is the team that owns the core orchestration and shared capabilities of this platform. We sit at the centre of Atlassian’s cloud platform, making sure that:

• We can safely run 100k+ deployments every month

• Teams get an enterprise‑grade developer experience and SLAs

• The platform keeps evolving as Atlassian moves into a multi‑cloud, Kubernetes‑based future

If you like massive scale, hard reliability problems and building tools other engineers love, this is the team.

In this role, you'll get the chance to:

• Build and evolve central platform services that keep Micros reliable, observable and easy to use at Atlassian scale (100k+ deploys/month).

• Help drive Atlassian’s cloud transformation: from “AWS‑only” to multi‑cloud with self‑hosted resources, including GCP and Kubernetes.

• Define and improve developer experience for this new world, setting the benchmark for how engineers build, deploy and operate services on our next‑gen platform.

• Partner with platform and product teams across Australia and India to ensure Micros runs efficiently, consistently and safely.

• Contribute to major platform engineering initiatives across Core Engineering, working closely with some of the strongest engineers and architects in the company.
