Job description
The Groundwater Hydrologist is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing groundwater resources. The role involves field investigations, groundwater data analysis, aquifer characterization, groundwater modeling, water-quality assessment, and providing recommendations for sustainable groundwater development and management.
- Conduct groundwater surveys, well inventories, and hydrogeological field investigations.
- Monitor groundwater levels, recharge, discharge, and seasonal variations.
- Assess aquifer characteristics, groundwater availability, and potential.
- Analyze groundwater-quality data and identify potential contamination risks.
- Conduct and interpret pumping tests, slug tests, and other aquifer tests.
- Prepare groundwater potential, vulnerability, and hydrogeological maps using GIS and remote sensing.
- Develop and use groundwater flow models to assess groundwater conditions and pumping impacts.
- Evaluate groundwater recharge and recommend artificial recharge and conservation measures.
- Support site selection and feasibility studies for groundwater wells.
- Collect, validate, analyze, and maintain groundwater monitoring data.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, presentations, and recommendations for clients or authorities.
- Coordinate with geologists, environmental scientists, engineers, survey teams, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure groundwater investigations and development activities comply with applicable environmental and water-resource regulations.
