Waiter

We are looking for warm, confident and reliable front-of-house team members who genuinely enjoy hospitality. Team members must provide attentive, professional service within Kala Bahia’s relaxed beachfront atmosphere and be comfortable working across lunch, sunset, dinner, weddings and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and guide them to their tables.
• Present menus and explain dishes, drinks, specials and relevant dietary information.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them correctly in the POS.
• Communicate clearly with the kitchen, bar, management and other FOH team members.
• Serve food and drinks professionally and efficiently.
• Monitor assigned tables throughout the guest experience and anticipate requirements.
• Recommend suitable dishes and drinks and support natural, non-pushy upselling.
• Identify allergies and dietary requirements and communicate them correctly.
• Prepare tables, sections and service stations before opening.
• Maintain clean, organised and fully stocked service areas.
• Complete opening, closing and side-work duties according to checklists.
• Follow billing, cash-handling and payment procedures.
• Assist with reservations, table allocation and large-group preparation.
• Set up and operate weddings, private dinners and special events.
• Follow service SOPs, hygiene standards and reasonable management instructions.
• Report guest complaints or operational problems immediately.
• Support colleagues during busy service and take responsibility for the presentation of assigned sections.

Candidate profile

• Previous restaurant, hotel, café or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Warm, friendly and confident with guests.
• Good spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Able to learn food and beverage menus thoroughly.
• Comfortable using a POS system or willing to learn.
• Well-groomed, punctual, reliable and honest.
• Able to follow SOPs and complete checklists consistently.
• Calm and efficient during busy service.
• Responsible when handling bills and payments.
• Open to training and constructive feedback.
• Able to collaborate effectively with kitchen, bar and FOH colleagues.
• Available for evenings, weekends, public holidays, weddings and events.
