Job Description: Graduate / Diploma Mechanical Trainee

Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Mechanical Trainee to support our integrated Supply Chain, Quality, and Production teams. In this foundational role, you will bridge the gap between material procurement and shop-floor execution. You will receive hands-on training to manage incoming quality control, optimize inventory through systematic documentation, execute vendor negotiations, and orchestrate smooth production scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

1. Incoming Quality Inspection & Documentation (GRN)

• Perform dimensional and visual inspection of raw materials, machined components, and castings using standard measuring instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges) against engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Identify material non-conformances, issue defect reports, and segregate rejected lots.
• Verify delivery chalans, supplier test certificates, and invoice line items.
• Generate Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) in the company’s ERP / Tally software immediately upon successful quality acceptance to ensure precise inventory logging. [1]

2. Purchasing, Negotiation & Material Follow-up

• Track internal Purchase Requisitions (PR) and convert them into formal Purchase Orders (PO).
• Handle RFQ (Request for Quote) cycles and compile comparison statements across multiple vendors.
• Assist senior procurement officers in price negotiations, analyzing material costs, and finalizing delivery timelines.
• Actively follow up with suppliers to track open orders, expediting critical raw materials to maintain zero production downtime. [1, 2, 3]

3. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Translate the master production schedule (PPC) into daily, granular shift plans for machine lines and operators.
• Conduct raw material availability checks prior to scheduling runs to prevent mid-production shortages.
• Coordinate setting updates, tooling availability, and mold/die changeovers with the maintenance team.
• Track shop floor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), monitoring output targets versus actual achievements daily. [1, 2]

Required Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
• Experience: Fresher to 1 year of internship/trainee experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Technical Skills:
• Ability to accurately read and interpret complex Engineering Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
• Familiarity with basic engineering materials (steel, cast iron, polymers)
