Position Title: Junior Engineer / Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) – Laser Cutting & AutoCAD

Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering (AutoCAD Certification is highly preferred)

Job Purpose

The Junior Laser Cutting & AutoCAD Operator will be responsible for creating, modifying, and nesting 2D engineering drawings for sheet metal fabrication. This role supports the production line by translating design blueprints into precise machine programs for laser cutting CNC machines, ensuring the accurate cutout of parts for transformer tanks, conservators, marshalling boxes, and core clamping structures.

Key Responsibilities

1. AutoCAD Drafting & Modification

• Convert 3D design models or physical sketches into accurate 2D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD.
• Modify existing fabrication drawings for transformer structural parts according to production feedback or engineering design changes (ECOs).
• Ensure correct application of tolerances, sheet metal bend deductions, and dimensions on the production drawings.

2. Nesting & CNC Laser Programming

• Utilize nesting software (e.g., Sigma NEST, CypCut, TruTops, or Radan) to arrange parts efficiently on sheet metal plates to minimize material scrap and optimize cutting time.
• Generate and load NC code / G-code programs into CNC fiber laser cutting machines.
• Maintain a well-organized digital library of sheet metal drawing files and program codes.

3. Machine Operations Support & Quality Inspection

• Coordinate closely with laser machine operators to verify that the cutting parameters (gas pressure, speed, focal length) match the material thickness (Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, etc.).
• Inspect the first cut part using vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy against the AutoCAD drawing before mass production begins.
