Machine Operator

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled CO₂ Laser Cutting Machine Operator to operate and maintain laser cutting/engraving machines for acrylic, MDF, wood, leather, and similar materials. The role involves file handling, machine setup, production cutting, quality checks, and basic maintenance to ensure clean cuts, minimal wastage, and consistent output.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

• Set up and operate CO₂ laser cutting/engraving machines for daily production.
• Select and set correct parameters (power, speed, frequency, passes) for different materials and thicknesses.
• Perform test cuts and adjust settings to achieve smooth edges and accurate dimensions.

File Handling & Job Preparation

• Read and interpret design files: AI / CDR / DXF / SVG / PDF (as applicable).
• Ensure designs are properly scaled, aligned, and optimized (nesting/placement) to reduce wastage.
• Coordinate with design team for corrections (missing vectors, open paths, wrong layers).

Quality & Production

• Maintain cutting accuracy, minimize burn marks, ensure clean engraving and edge finish.
• Check final output against approved sample/specs (dimensions, finish, quantity).
• Track production output, material usage, and job completion status.

Safety & Maintenance

• Follow laser safety procedures (PPE, fume extraction, fire safety).
• Clean lens/mirrors, check alignment, inspect belts/rails, maintain chiller/water cooling system.
• Troubleshoot common issues: inconsistent cutting, alignment drift, focus errors, smoke marks.
• Maintain housekeeping around machine area.

Requirements / Skills

• Hands-on experience operating CO₂ laser cutting machines (Ruida/Trocen/Leetro controllers or similar is a plus).
• Good understanding of:

• Focus setting, bed leveling, air assist, exhaust, and cutting parameters
• Material behavior (acrylic, MDF, wood) and how to avoid melting/burning
• Basic design/software knowledge: CorelDRAW / Illustrator / LightBurn (any one is fine).
• Ability to use measuring tools: vernier caliper, scale, templates.
• Strong attention to detail, speed, and production discipline.
• Willing to work in shifts and handle urgent production timelines.
