Plant Supervisor

SSV Kisan Bandhu is a startup engaged in the food processing business. The company aims to create backward linkages with the agriculture sector, especially with farmers/ growers, and develop business models that will lead to increase in their earnings.

At present the company has set up a raw garlic peeling unit in Gurgaon. The company has ambitious plans to expand its product range to more value-added products such as garlic powder, garlic paste, garlic flakes and further diversify into other products that can be manufactured by processing agriculture crops like onion, ginger, tomato etc.

The company is looking for an experienced and ambitious Plant Supervisor who will lead the operations at the company’s unit in Gurgaon. The roles and responsibilities include:

Roles & Responsibilities: Plant Supervisor, Gurgaon

1.      Ensure proper storage in warehouse (maintain ventilation, distance etc. to reduce losses/ wastage)

2.      Maintain FIFO at warehouse (tagging the lot – stock, date of arrival, no of bags, maintain inventory register etc.)

3.      Plan and execute day-to-day plant operations on the basis of customer requirements (i.e. daily production schedule, prepare forecast on basis of demand, holidays etc., manage specific requirements etc.)

4.      Maintain record of daily production (starting weight, final weight, wastage etc.)

5.      Managing plant operations (handling labour, ensuring productivity etc.)

6.      Ensure housekeeping to ensure that warehouse and manufacturing area are clean, hygienic and sanitized

7.      Supervise dispatches – packing, transportation, delivery to customer

8.      Ensure safe-keeping of finished product in case dispatch does not happen for any reason etc.

9.      Manage waste disposal

10.   Generate invoices and track payments

11.   Ensure compliance with all plant-level regulatory compliances such FSSAI and applicable Labour Laws, etc. and maintain all necessary records and documents etc.

12.   Keeping track of various expenses at the Plant (including payment of rent, electricity bills, labour payments, etc.)

13.   Handle anything else that may be necessary to ensure the plant operations continue smoothly

Additional responsibilities (on an occasional basis)

14.   Support the General Manager in procurement of raw material

15.   Collect/ collate data related to Mandi prices – get information of prices, arrivals and sales in the Mandi

16.   Maintain contact with Wholesalers, Traders and Commission Agents in Kota, Mandsaur, Gondal etc. and get information of prices, arrivals, etc. (i.e. anything that has impact on prices)

17.   Tap the wholesale markets to develop alternate channels of selling the stock

18.   Coordinate purchase operations from Mandis - purchase, loading, transportation, unloading etc.

Essential requirements

1. Diploma or equivalent qualification in food processing, agriculture or engineering
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in a food processing plant
3. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP etc., will be given additional weightage during the selection process
4. Proficient in computer usage
