CNC Fiber Laser Machine Operator

We are looking for an experienced CNC Fiber Laser Cutting Operator to operate and set up fiber laser cutting machines for precision cutting of MS, SS, GI and aluminium sheets used in industrial electrical enclosures and sheet-metal assemblies.

The operator will be responsible for machine setup, loading materials, running approved cutting programs, monitoring cutting quality, handling finished parts and maintaining safe and efficient machine operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC fiber laser cutting machines for precision sheet-metal cutting.
• Load and unload MS, SS, GI and aluminium sheets safely and correctly.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, DXF files, cutting layouts and job instructions.
• Load approved CNC programs/nesting files and verify job parameters before production.
• Set and verify:
• Nozzle selection
• Focus position
• Cutting height
• Gas pressure
• Cutting speed
• Power and frequency parameters
• Material thickness settings
• Monitor cutting operations and identify problems such as:
• Excessive burr
• Incomplete cutting
• Dross
• Poor edge quality
• Heat-affected areas
• Incorrect dimensions
• Nozzle collisions
• Carry out basic operator-level adjustments to achieve required cutting quality.
• Inspect the first few components and verify dimensions before continuing batch production.
• Separate and identify finished components according to job/part number.
• Ensure components are not scratched, bent or damaged during unloading and handling.
• Maintain material and job traceability throughout the cutting process.
• Minimize material wastage by following approved nesting plans.
• Monitor machine performance and immediately report abnormal sounds, alarms, vibration or cutting defects.
• Perform routine cleaning and operator-level maintenance of the laser machine, bed, nozzles, lenses and related components as specified by the machine manufacturer.
• Maintain proper housekeeping around the laser cutting area.
• Follow all laser safety, electrical safety, compressed-gas and PPE requirements.
• Maintain production records, material usage, rejection/rework and downtime.
• Coordinate with the Mechanical Designer and Production Engineer regarding drawings, cutting files, material specifications and production issues.

Candidate Requirements

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Fitter / Sheet Metal or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–5 years of experience operating CNC fiber laser cutting machines.
• Experience with MS, SS, GI and aluminium sheet cutting.
• Good understanding of sheet-metal cutting and material handling.
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings and understand dimensions/tolerances.
• Experience with CypCut / CypNest / Bochu or similar laser-control/nesting software is preferred.
• Experience operating 3 kW or higher fiber laser machines is preferred.
• Ability to independently perform machine setup and production runs.
• Good understanding of cutting parameters and assist-gas selection for different materials and thicknesses.
