Interior Designer

1. Job SummaryWe are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and technically capable Interior Designer to handle the design and documentation requirements for commercial and residential interior fit-out projects.

The candidate will be responsible for developing design concepts, preparing detailed drawings and presentations, coordinating with clients and project teams, finalizing materials, and supporting the project execution team to ensure that the approved design is implemented as planned.

• 2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Design & Concept DevelopmentUnderstand client requirements, project brief, space planning requirements, and design objectives.
• Develop interior design concepts in line with the client’s requirements and project budget.
• Prepare space planning, furniture layouts, ceiling layouts, flooring layouts, partition layouts, and other relevant design drawings.
• Develop design presentations, mood boards, material boards, and 3D views/renders.
• Ensure designs are practical, functional, aesthetically appealing, and suitable for execution.
• B. Working Drawings & DocumentationPrepare detailed working drawings and construction drawings.
• Prepare plans, elevations, sections, furniture details, ceiling details, flooring layouts, and other necessary drawings.
• Prepare detailed drawings for custom furniture, partitions, reception areas, cabins, workstations, storage, kitchens, and other interior elements.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and suitable for site execution.
• Incorporate client/architect/project team comments and issue revised drawings as required.
• Maintain proper revision control and drawing records.
• C. Material & Product SelectionResearch and recommend suitable materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, hardware, sanitary fittings, and other interior products.
• Prepare material specifications and schedules.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to understand product specifications, availability, lead times, and pricing.
• Visit showrooms, supplier facilities, and project sites when required.
• Ensure selected materials are practical, commercially viable, and aligned with the approved design.
• D. Client CoordinationUnderstand and document client requirements accurately.
• Present design concepts, layouts, 3D views, material selections, and design proposals to clients.
• Attend client meetings and design discussions.
• Incorporate approved client inputs into the design.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with clients throughout the design stage.
• E. Project & Site CoordinationCoordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Purchase, Estimation, and other internal teams.
• Visit project sites regularly to monitor design implementation.
• Clarify design-related queries raised by the site team.
• Ensure execution is in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Identify design conflicts or execution issues and provide practical solutions.
• Coordinate with MEP, HVAC, electrical, civil, fire & safety, and other services to ensure design integration.
• F. BOQ & Commercial CoordinationSupport the estimation team by providing accurate design information and quantities wherever required.
• Review BOQs and ensure that design requirements are properly reflected.
• Assist in identifying design changes, variations, and additional requirements.
• Suggest value-engineering options without compromising the overall design intent and quality.
• G. 3D Visualization & PresentationPrepare high-quality 3D views and realistic renders as required.
• Develop design presentations for client approvals and project discussions.
• Ensure 3D models accurately represent the proposed materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and overall design.
• Maintain consistency between 2D drawings, 3D views, and actual site execution.
• H. Quality & Design ControlEnsure accuracy and consistency across all drawings and design documents.
• Check dimensions, levels, materials, finishes, and specifications before issuing drawings.
• Minimize design errors, rework, and site-level modifications.
• Ensure design decisions consider execution feasibility, budget, timelines, and quality standards.

3. Coordination with Internal TeamsThe Interior Designer is expected to work closely with:

• Estimation & Quantity Surveying Team
• Purchase & Procurement Team
• MEP Team
• Vendors and Contractors

• 4. Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of interior design principles and space planning.
• Good understanding of commercial interior fit-out execution.
• Ability to prepare detailed working and construction drawings.
• Good knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, hardware, and interior products.
• Good understanding of MEP coordination and site execution requirements.
• Strong AutoCAD skills.
• Knowledge of SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit, or other relevant design software is preferred.
• Good knowledge of rendering and presentation tools.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Practical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good coordination and teamwork skills.

5. Qualification & ExperienceEducation:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture/Interior Design or a related field.

Experience:

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in interior design and fit-out projects.
• Experience in commercial office interiors will be an added advantage.
