Patient Finance Counsellor

Role Overview:  

The Patient Finance Counsellor is responsible for counselling patients and their attendants on treatment plans, hospitalization requirements, estimated costs, insurance coverage, and available payment options. The role focuses on facilitating the conversion of eligible outpatient consultations into inpatient admissions through effective patient engagement, financial counselling, and coordination with clinical and support teams.

Key Responsibilities  

Counsel patients and their attendants regarding recommended treatment plans, hospitalization requirements, and associated financial estimates.

Facilitate the conversion of outpatient (OP) consultations into inpatient (IP) admissions through effective counselling and follow-up.

Explain treatment costs, hospital packages, insurance coverage, cashless eligibility, and available payment options to patients and their families.

Coordinate with consultants, nursing, billing, insurance, and admission teams to ensure a seamless patient admission process.

Follow up with prospective patients to address concerns, provide clarifications, and support timely treatment decisions.

Qualifications & Skills  

Graduate in any discipline; healthcare-related qualifications will be an added advantage.

1–5 years of experience in hospital counselling, healthcare sales, patient relationship management, insurance coordination, academic counselling, or a similar role.

Experience in OP-to-IP conversion within a healthcare setting will be preferred.

Strong communication, counselling, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build rapport with patients and address concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Good understanding of hospital billing processes, treatment packages, and insurance procedures.
