Job Description – Counter Sales Team Member

Job Summary

The Counter Sales Team Member is responsible for delivering an exceptional shopping experience by assisting customers at the sales counter, re commending products, processing sales, maintaining attractive displays, and ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and customer service. The role requires strong communication skills, product knowledge, and a customer-first approach in a premium gourmet retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Customer Service

·      Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting products.

·      Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products.

·      Upsell and cross-sell complementary products to enhance customer experience.

·      Resolve customer queries and escalate concerns when required.

·      Build lasting relationships with repeat customers.

2. Sales & Billing

·      Achieve daily and monthly sales targets.

·      Operate the POS system accurately for billing and payments.

·      Handle cash, card, UPI, and other payment methods responsibly.

·      Ensure zero billing errors and maintain transaction records.

3. Product Knowledge

·      Develop thorough knowledge of Food Square’s product range, including:

·      Gourmet groceries

·      Fresh produce

·      Dairy & Cheese

·      Bakery

·      Meat & Seafood

·      Ready-to-Eat products

·      Beverages

·      Explain product features, ingredients, storage methods, and usage to customers.

4. Merchandise & Display

·      Ensure shelves and counters are fully stocked and well-presented.

·      Monitor product freshness and expiry dates.

·      Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

·      Maintain clean and attractive displays.

5. Hygiene & Food Safety

·      Maintain excellent personal grooming and hygiene.

·      Follow Food Square hygiene and food safety standards.

·      Keep counters clean and sanitized throughout the day.

·      Handle food products safely to avoid contamination.

6. Inventory Support

·      Assist in stock replenishment.

·      Report low stock and damaged products.

·      Support periodic stock counts and inventory audits.

7. Store Operations

·      Assist in opening and closing procedures.

·      Coordinate with other departments to ensure product availability.

·      Support promotional activities and in-store events.

·      Ensure compliance with company SOPs.

Qualifications

·      Minimum 12th Pass.

·      Diploma or Bachelor's degree preferred.

·      Hospitality or Retail Management qualification will be an advantage.

·      Experience

·      1–3 years of experience in retail, FMCG, supermarket, gourmet food, hospitality, or customer service.

·      Freshers with excellent communication skills and a passion for food retail may also apply.

Other Details

·       Working Hours: 9-hour rotational shift (including break as per company policy)

·       Weekly Off: One rotational weekly off

·       Salary Credit: Salary is credited on the 1st of every month

·       Work Schedule: Candidates should be willing to work on weekends and public holidays as per the roster.

·       Location: Food Square, Sindhu Bhavan Road, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad.
