Turner

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Turner to set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes to produce high-precision metal components. The ideal candidate will interpret technical drawings, select appropriate cutting tools, manage machine feeds and speeds, and perform rigorous quality inspections on finished parts.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and specifications to plan machining operations.
• Secure work pieces in chucks or collets and accurately center them using measuring or alignment tools.
• Select, grind, set up, and adjust cutting tools for turning, threading, facing, and boring tasks.
• Control lathe operations, monitor coolant flow, and manage machine speeds and feeds.
• Perform daily machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting.
• Adhere strictly to workshop safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: ITI certificate, trade apprenticeship, or diploma in Turner / Machinist trade (or equivalent practical experience).
• Experience: [ 2+ years] of hands-on experience operating center lathes or CNC turning centers in a manufacturing or engineering workshop.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, tool grinding, speeds, feeds, and material properties.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators).
• For CNC positions: Familiarity with G-code/M-code or conversational CNC programming.
