HMC VMC Grinding Operator

Job Title: VMC Operator, HMC, Grinding Operator

The operator will be responsible for machine setup, component machining, dimensional inspection, tool monitoring, production reporting and maintaining required quality standards. Candidates should be comfortable working from engineering drawings and producing components within specified tolerances.

• Key ResponsibilitiesOperate Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC), Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and/or grinding machines according to approved manufacturing processes.
• Set up jobs including workholding fixtures, cutting tools, tool holders and component loading.
• Select and set required tools according to component drawings and process sheets.
• Set tool lengths, offsets, work coordinates and zero points before machining.
• Load, select and execute CNC programs provided by the programming/manufacturing team.
• Carry out program prove-out and first-piece inspection before starting batch production.
• Make approved minor corrections to tool offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Monitor cutting conditions, tool wear, vibration, surface finish and machine performance during production.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements and machining instructions.
• Inspect components using vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges and other measuring instruments.
• Ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements before releasing them to the next process.
• Operate surface and/or cylindrical grinding machines where applicable.
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, speeds, feeds and dressing requirements.
• Perform grinding-wheel dressing and maintain required surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
• Identify abnormal machine conditions, tool damage or quality problems and immediately report them to the supervisor.
• Reduce rejection, rework and excessive tool consumption.
• Maintain production records including quantity produced, rejection, downtime and machine utilization.
• Follow the production plan and achieve daily machining targets.
• Maintain proper identification and traceability of components.
• Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication and basic preventive-maintenance checks.
• Support maintenance personnel during machine troubleshooting and scheduled maintenance.
• Follow all safety procedures while operating CNC and grinding machines.
• Maintain 5S and workplace organization around assigned machines.
