Job Description – Passive Networking Technician

Position: Passive Networking Technician / Structured Cabling Technician

About the RoleWe are looking for a technically skilled Passive Networking Technician with hands-on experience in structured cabling, network infrastructure installation, and project execution. The candidate should have practical knowledge of CAT6/CAT6A cabling, OFC, patch panels, racks, termination, testing, and network infrastructure projects.

The candidate will be responsible for site execution, installation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination with the Project Engineer and customer team.

• Key ResponsibilitiesExecute structured network cabling projects at customer sites.
• Install and terminate CAT6/CAT6A UTP/FTP cables.
• Perform patch panel, keystone, I/O, faceplate and rack dressing work.
• Install and terminate OFC (Optical Fiber Cable) including fiber jointing/splicing.
• Perform fiber testing using OTDR, Power Meter and Light Source.
• Conduct Fluke/DSP cable testing where required.
• Install and dress network racks, cable managers, patch panels and accessories.
• Carry out cable laying, routing, tagging, labeling and identification.
• Understand and follow cable tray, conduit, raceway and pathway requirements.
• Read basic network/cabling drawings, layouts and BOQ.
• Maintain proper cable dressing and maintain industry-standard installation practices.
• Assist in installation of LAN, Wi-Fi, CCTV, Access Control, PA System and other ELV infrastructure projects.
• Identify and rectify cable faults, connectivity issues and termination problems.
• Coordinate with Project Engineers, Presales Engineers, vendors and customer representatives.
• Maintain daily site reports, installation records, test reports and project documentation.
• Ensure work is completed within the agreed project timeline.
• Follow site safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping at project locations.
• Travel to customer sites across Kolkata and West Bengal as required.

Technical Skills RequiredMandatory:

• CAT6/CAT6A structured cabling
• UTP/FTP cable installation
• RJ45 termination
• Patch panel termination
• Keystone/Jack termination
• Network rack installation and dressing
• Cable tagging and labeling
• Cable testing and troubleshooting
• Basic knowledge of OFC

Preferred:

• OFC splicing and termination
• OTDR testing
• Fiber Power Meter testing
• Fluke/DSP cable certification testing
• Experience with cable trays and pathways
• Basic knowledge of LAN/Switching
• Experience in CCTV and Access Control cabling
• Knowledge of ELV/IT infrastructure projects
• Educational QualificationITI / Diploma / equivalent technical qualification preferred.
• Candidates with strong practical experience in structured cabling may also be considered.
