QC Associate

Job Purpose

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that sheet metal parts and brazed components meet defined quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role focuses on process control, inspection, defect analysis, and continuous improvement across fabrication and brazing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

• Inspect incoming raw materials (sheets, strips, rods, brazing alloys, fluxes).
• Verify material grades, thickness, surface condition, and certifications.
• Maintain IQC records and supplier feedback.

In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)

• Monitor sheet metal processes:
• Cutting, blanking, punching, bending, forming, welding
• Monitor brazing operations:
• Joint fit-up, filler material usage, temperature control, cycle time
• Ensure adherence to control plans, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Conduct first-off and patrol inspections.

Final Quality Control (FQC)

• Perform dimensional and visual inspection of finished components.
• Check brazing quality for:
• Joint strength
• Wetting and fillet formation
• Voids, cracks, discoloration
• Conduct functional checks where applicable.
• Approve or reject parts for dispatch.

Quality Documentation & Systems

• Maintain quality records:
• Inspection reports
• Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Assist in implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality systems.
• Support internal and external audits.

Problem Solving & Improvement

• Analyze defects related to:
• Sheet metal deformation
• Poor brazing joints
• Surface defects
• Perform root cause analysis using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram.
• Drive corrective actions with production and maintenance teams.
• Support process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
