DRILL MACHINE OPERATOR

📋 Job Description & Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Select, change, and secure the correct drill bits, chucks, and collets based on the blueprints and material thickness.
• Operation: Operate various drilling machines, including radial drill presses, pillar drills, and magnetic core drills.
• Reading Blueprints: Interpret technical engineering drawings, fabrication layouts, and weldment symbols to locate exact hole centers.
• Material Handling: Load, position, and secure heavy metal parts onto the drill table using clamps, vices, cranes, or hoists.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges to ensure compliance with strict tolerance levels.
• Maintenance: Perform daily machine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, clearing metal chips, and lubricating moving parts.

⚙️ Fabrication & Process Instructions

• Marking and Punching: Always use a center punch and hammer to create a starting indentation. This prevents the drill bit from walking or drifting off-target.
• Speed and Feed Rates: Adjust rotation speeds (RPM) and feed rates based on the material hardness (e.g., stainless steel requires slower speeds and higher pressure than mild steel).
• Coolant Management: Apply cutting oil or coolant continuously during operation to prevent overheating, extend tool life, and maintain clean hole finishes.
• Burr Removal: Deburr all drilled holes using a deburring tool or countersink bit to ensure flush fitting during final assembly and welding.
• Safety Protocol: Secure all workpieces firmly before starting the spindle. Never hold raw material by hand while drilling.

🎒 Interview Guidelines: What to Carry

Please arrive at the interview location on time and bring a folder containing the following items:

• Updated Resume/CV: Bring at least two printed copies of your latest resume detailing your machine operation experience.
• Certifications: Carry your ITI fitter, machinist certificate, or any relevant technical diplomas (both originals and photocopies).
• Experience Letters: Provide reliving letters or experience certificates from your previous fabrication employers.
• Identification: Carry valid government-issued photo IDs (such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driver's license).
• Passport Photos: Keep 2 to 4 recent passport-sized photographs ready.
• Safety Gear: Bring your own pair of safety shoes and safety glasses, as some companies conduct a practical machine-operating test on the same day.
