Embedded Systems Engineer

About the Role

Varnilix Private Limited is looking for a skilled and hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer with 2+ years of experience in embedded hardware and firmware development.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of microcontrollers, Embedded C/C++, electronics, communication protocols, sensors, PCB debugging, and IoT systems. The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, debugging, and integrating embedded systems for Varnilix's industrial and smart monitoring products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
• Work with microcontrollers such as ESP32, STM32, AVR, or similar platforms.
• Develop firmware using Embedded C/C++.
• Interface sensors, meters, relays, displays, communication modules, and other electronic components.
• Work with UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Modbus, CAN, and MQTT.
• Develop and integrate IoT and industrial monitoring solutions.
• Work on energy monitoring and electrical measurement systems.
• Perform hardware bring-up, testing, debugging, and fault finding.
• Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and current probes for testing and debugging.
• Read and understand circuit diagrams, datasheets, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with hardware and software teams for system integration.
• Identify and resolve firmware, hardware, communication, and integration issues.
• Conduct functional testing and validation of embedded products.
• Assist in PCB testing, debugging, and prototype development.
• Document firmware, hardware testing procedures, and technical findings.
• Participate in R&D activities and develop proof-of-concepts for new products.

Required Skills

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in Embedded Systems / Firmware Development.
• Strong programming knowledge in Embedded C/C++.
• Practical experience with ESP32, STM32, Arduino, AVR, PIC, or similar microcontrollers.
• Good understanding of GPIO, ADC, PWM, timers, interrupts, and microcontroller peripherals.
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Modbus, CAN, or MQTT.
• Understanding of electronics fundamentals and digital/analog circuits.
• Experience working with sensors and electronic modules.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and datasheets.
• Hands-on experience with hardware debugging and troubleshooting. Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to independently troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues.

Good to Have

• Experience with energy metering systems or electrical measurement.
• Experience with ATM90E32AS or similar energy metering ICs.
• Experience with current transformers (CT), voltage sensing, power measurement, and energy monitoring.
• Experience with IoT platforms and cloud connectivity.
• Knowledge of Wi-Fi, BLE, Ethernet, or cellular communication.
• Experience with PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium, Eagle, or similar.
• Knowledge of FreeRTOS / RTOS. Experience with industrial automation or industrial communication.
• Experience developing products from prototype to field deployment.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Candidates with strong practical embedded development experience may also be considered.
