About the RoleWe are looking for a skilled and passionate Continental Chef to join the kitchen team at The House of Nirjharna, Udaipur.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Continental and café-style cuisine, excellent food presentation skills, and the ability to maintain consistent taste, quality and hygiene during service.

• Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook a variety of Continental and café dishes including pasta, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, salads, steaks, grills, soups, appetizers and other international preparations.
• Ensure consistent taste, portion size, presentation and quality of every dish.
• Follow standard recipes, cooking methods and plating specifications.
• Assist in developing and introducing new Continental dishes and café specials.
• Maintain proper mise en place before and during service.
• Monitor food quality, freshness and storage conditions.
• Ensure minimum food wastage through proper preparation, storage and portion control.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and workstations as per FSSAI and restaurant standards.
• Follow proper food safety, temperature control and storage procedures.
• Coordinate effectively with the Sous Chef, Head Chef and service team during busy operations.
• Ensure timely preparation and dispatch of orders during peak hours.
• Monitor stock levels and inform the senior chef regarding shortages or requirements.
• Assist with receiving and checking the quality of vegetables, dairy, meat, sauces and other kitchen supplies.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure proper handling of tools and machinery.
• Train and guide Commis Chefs and junior kitchen staff when required.
• Follow FIFO/FEFO principles and maintain proper labelling and storage.
• Maintain consistency across dine-in, takeaway and delivery orders.
• Required SkillsStrong knowledge of Continental cuisine and cooking techniques.
• Good understanding of sauces, pasta, grills, baking basics and international ingredients.
• Good knife-handling and food-preparation skills.
• Strong understanding of food presentation and plating.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of food costing and portion control will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of café-style menu development will be preferred.
• Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.
