Job Title: Fashion Designer – Women’s Ethnic Wear

Brand: Qazmi

Qazmi is looking for a creative, technically strong Fashion Designer to develop women’s ethnic and contemporary wear, with a focus on embroidery and wearable silhouettes. The role involves taking designs from concept to finished sample, working closely with the pattern master, embroidery artisans and sampling team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design kurtis, kurta sets, co-ord sets and contemporary ethnic wear aligned with Qazmi’s comfort-first positioning.
• Develop embroidery concepts and detailed khaakas, specifying motif placement, scale, thread colours and stitch techniques.
• Work closely with the pattern master to translate sketches into patterns and get silhouettes ready for sampling.
• Guide garment construction, including fabric selection, fit, proportions, sleeves, necklines, finishing and drape.
• Conduct sample fittings, communicate corrections and refine garments until they are ready for production.
• Coordinate with embroidery artisans and tailors to ensure accurate execution and consistent quality.
• Prepare clear design specifications, measurement details and sample-development notes.
• Research trends and customer preferences to create commercially relevant designs within target costs and timelines.

Essential Requirements

• Prior fashion-design experience in women’s ethnic or contemporary Indian wear.
• Practical embroidery experience is mandatory; experience in Kashmiri Aari work is preferred.
• Khaaka designing knowledge is mandatory, including motif development, placement and proportion.
• Hands-on garment-construction experience is mandatory, with a strong understanding of patterns, stitching, fit and finishing.
• Ability to work directly with a pattern master and sampling team to develop and finalise silhouettes.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership of sample development and clear communication skills.
