Position Title: CNC Drilling Program Engineer / CNC Drilling Programmer

Location: Kndhwa Pune

Role Overview

The CNC Drilling Program Engineer will be responsible for preparing, verifying, and releasing accurate drilling programs for CNC machines used in modular kitchen cabinet manufacturing. The role ensures that drilling positions, hole diameters, depths, hardware locations, and machining parameters are as per approved designs, technical drawings, and hardware specifications.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate component machining, proper hardware fitting, minimum rejection, optimum machine utilization, and uninterrupted production flow.

1. CNC Drilling Program Preparation & Release

· Prepare & release or evaluate programs generated by design software and release CNC drilling programs for cabinet components, shutters, drawers, and other related parts as per approved technical drawings and production requirements.

· Ensure correct drilling positions, hole diameters, drilling depths, pitch distances, and edge references.

· Verify drilling patterns for hinges, drawer systems, profile handles, connectors, dowels, minifix fittings, and other cabinet hardware.

· Ensure the correct face, orientation, and reference edge of every component are considered while preparing the program.

· Check the accuracy and completeness of programs before releasing them to production.

· Revise and re-release programs whenever there are approved changes in drawings, hardware specifications, or component dimensions.

· Maintain proper identification and version control of all released drilling programs.

2. Drawing Interpretation & Technical Coordination

· Study approved cabinet drawings, component details, cut lists, and hardware lists before preparing drilling programs.

· Coordinate with the Design and Engineering team to clarify missing dimensions, drilling references, hardware specifications, or drawing discrepancies.

· Verify that drilling positions are suitable for the specified hardware and assembly method.

· Identify potential design or manufacturing errors before the program is released.

· Coordinate with the Planning and Production teams to prioritize programs according to the production schedule.

4. CNC Machine & Production Support

· Ensure that released programs are compatible with the designated CNC machine and its drilling configuration.

· Investigate drilling-related rejections and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

· Coordinate with Maintenance and Production teams when issues relate to machine settings, tool condition, or machine accuracy.

· Support efficient machine utilization by ensuring programs are available before the scheduled production operation.

5. Quality Control & Process Improvement

· Maintain drilling accuracy and consistency in accordance with approved technical specifications.

· Identify recurring program errors and implement preventive measures.

· Minimize component rejection, rework, and material wastage caused by incorrect drilling programs.

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

6. Documentation & Program Management

· Maintain an organized database of released CNC drilling programs, categorized by product, component, order number or part number.

· Ensure that only approved and current program versions are available for production use, that is in coordination with software manager.

Key Skills & Competencies

· Knowledge of CNC drilling machines used in panel processing and cabinet manufacturing.

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, component drawings, cut lists, and hardware specifications.

· Understanding of modular kitchen cabinet construction, hardware fitting, and assembly requirements.

· Working knowledge of CNC programming software and relevant machine control systems.

· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to coordinate effectively with Design, Planning, Quality, and Production teams.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Drilling program accuracy: Percentage of Orders released without errors.

· Program-related rejection: percentage of components rejected due to drilling program errors.

· Corrective action effectiveness: Reduction in recurring drilling program errors.

Responsibility & Accountability

The CNC Drilling Program Engineer is accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timely release of drilling programs before production use. Programmer must ensure that the software catalogue or library is maintained with all standard and accurate drilling programs

Any discrepancy in drawings, hardware specifications, component dimensions, or drilling requirements must be clarified with the concerned department before program release and simultaneously ensure to correct these inputs in design software as well .
