Sicilia’s All Day Kitchen & Café is looking for a passionate and skilled Continental Chef (Commis 1) to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of Continental and Italian cuisine, a passion for food, and the ability to maintain high standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene.

• Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and execute Continental and Italian dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Handle daily kitchen operations, including mise en place, food preparation, and service.
• Prepare dishes such as pastas, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, and other Continental preparations.
• Maintain consistency in taste, portion sizes, plating, and food quality.
• Ensure proper food storage, stock rotation, and FIFO practices.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor ingredient usage and minimise food wastage.
• Coordinate with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
• Assist with menu development, daily specials, and new dish trials.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and workstations are maintained properly.
• RequirementsPrevious experience as a Commis 1 or in a similar Continental kitchen role.
• Good knowledge of Continental and Italian cuisine.
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café or restaurant environment.
• Good teamwork, discipline, and time-management skills.
• Willingness to learn, take responsibility, and maintain consistent standards.
• Candidates with experience in cafés, bistros, or casual dining restaurants will be preferred.
