Job Description
Environmental Technician – Installation, Commissioning & Retrofitting
Department: Engineering & Field Services
Employment Type: Full-time
Core Responsibilities
- System Installation: Install environmental treatment systems, water filtration units, chemical dosing systems, and associated piping networks.
- System Commissioning: Test, calibrate, and start up newly installed environmental equipment to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Retrofitting & Upgrades: Modify, update, and retrofit existing mechanical and plumbing systems to improve efficiency and meet updated environmental standards.
- Plumbing & Pipefitting: Layout, assemble, and install plastic, copper, and steel pipe sections, valves, and specialized fittings.
- Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Inspect system layouts, identify mechanical or fluid-flow failures, and perform corrective maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or ITI certification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Technology, or a related trade school background.
- Certifications: Industrial safety certification (such as OSHA or equivalent local safety clearance) and a valid driver's license.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial plumbing, commercial piping, or equipment installation and commissioning.
Technical Skills Evaluated
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), MEP drawings, and technical schematics.
- Tool Competency: Proficiency with pipe cutters, threading machines, welding/soldering equipment, and diagnostic pressure gauges.
- Fluid Dynamics Knowledge: Basic understanding of pumps, flow rates, pressure drops, and backflow prevention mechanisms.
