Job Description Summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the development, delivery, and operational excellence of strategic Digital Health Services (DHS) platform and cloud services. This role is responsible for building and leading high-performing engineering teams, driving product execution, accelerating customer adoption, and delivering secure, scalable, and highly available healthcare software solutions.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with experience in cloud-native platforms, software engineering, DevOps/SRE practices, and cross-functional leadership. The role requires close collaboration with Product Management, Program Management, Architecture, Security, Operations, and customer-facing teams to define and execute technology roadmaps that support GE HealthCare's digital transformation strategy.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & People Management

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, engineering managers, architects, and technical leads.
• Build a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Drive workforce planning, hiring, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
• Mentor engineers and leaders to strengthen technical depth, leadership capability, and career growth.

Product & Technology Execution

• Own the end-to-end engineering delivery of one or more services in Digital Health Services (DHS)
• Translate business objectives and product strategy into executable engineering roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Drive quarterly and annual planning, release management, and roadmap execution.
• Ensure high-quality delivery through modern software engineering practices, Agile methodologies, and DevSecOps principles.

Cloud Platform & Service Operations

• Lead the design and delivery of cloud-native solutions running on AWS.
• Drive operational excellence through observability, automation, reliability engineering, and service maturity improvements.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators including availability, reliability, customer adoption, cost optimization, and engineering productivity.
• Ensure services meet or exceed defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Technical Excellence

• Provide technical leadership in distributed systems, microservices, APIs, data platforms, healthcare interoperability, and cloud technologies.
• Drive architecture reviews, technology decisions, and engineering standards.
• Champion AI-driven software development practices, engineering productivity initiatives, and automation.
• Promote best practices in security, scalability, maintainability, and software quality.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with Product, Program, Architecture, Security, Compliance, Operations, and business stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships across internal teams, customers, and external partners.
• Influence organizational strategy and drive alignment across multiple teams and functions.
• Effectively communicate engineering strategy, progress, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Customer & Business Impact

• Drive customer adoption and successful deployment of DHS services.
• Balance innovation, operational excellence, and business outcomes.
• Lead customer escalations, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support business planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and financial management activities.

Compliance, Security & Quality

• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy requirements, and industry standards.
• Embed security, quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Drive audit readiness and continuous compliance initiatives.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor 's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.

Required Qualifications:

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4+ years leading engineering teams.
• Proven experience managing software engineers and technical leaders in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs, distributed systems, and modern software development frameworks.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, and operational excellence practices.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale SaaS or platform services.
• Experience in healthcare technology, digital health platforms, or regulated industries.
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as DICOM, HL7, FHIR, or related healthcare ecosystems.
• Experience leading AI/ML-enabled products or AI-driven software development initiatives.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance frameworks relevant to healthcare systems.
• Experience managing globally distributed engineering teams.
• Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, cost optimization, and strategic planning.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and complex technical programs.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
