Life on the team

Computacenter’s GIS business unit is seeking an experienced Portfolio Test Manager to strengthen and mature its test management approach. The role will lead the delivery of test services across Regional Delivery product releases and programmes, providing strategic direction on test methodologies, governance, and best practices. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of testing projects, develop and execute effective test strategies and plans, and ensure high-quality, cost-efficient delivery while maintaining operational stability.

What you'll do

 

Regional Delivery Products (50%):

• Work closely with the Head of Products (Regional Delivery), Product Leads, Scrum Masters, and Business SMEs to ensure the BAU pipeline is accurately sized and reviewed quarterly for testing resources. Establish a core team of expert GIS testers working alongside Business SMEs to deliver releases into production to the highest standards, on schedule, with no detrimental impact on operational stability.
• Work closely with delivery leads to ensure that projects and program enabled by Regional Delivery is fully resourced for testing, budget is approved, plans are finalized, and all test deliverables meet the highest standards and are delivered on schedule
• Identify the environmental requirements (inc. Data) of the Product and ensure that both current and future needs are communicated and met in collaboration with the Environment Management team
• In collaboration with Business SMEs, Product Leads and P&S drive the automation of new user stories, existing stories, core functionality, and end-to-end business scenarios. Ensure that 95% of those identified as critical and valuable for automation are automated, significantly improving the speed of testing
• Collaborate with Product Leads and P&S to drive the strategy for non-functional testing, ensuring the protection of operational stability.

Team Management (UK, EU, US or IN) (40%):

• Provide leadership, direction, and support to team members, taking responsibility for recruitment, appraisals, training plans, performance management and setting SMART objectives to drive high-performance teams.
• Provide clear and effective communication of the team’s goals and priorities in alignment with the Head of the Regional Delivery programme and Head of Product (Regional Delivery)
• Ensure vendors are managed effectively, provide management information and deliver to SLA’s and KPIs
• Take ownership of issues, escalating as necessary
• Provide regular progress reporting at a portfolio and project level and KPI reporting for key initiatives
• Provide financial oversight and reporting for the portfolio ensuring costs are managed and recovered
• Conduct regular audits for test deliverables against policy and standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives

Test Strategy & Environment Evangelist (10%):

• Take ownership for delivering key testing initiatives as set by the Head of Testing & Environments; delivering the vision, benefits, strategy, plans, business case, communication and desired outcomes
• Ensure Test & Environment policies and standards (e.g Test Process and Approach, Environment Management, Automation, NFT and test tooling are adopted across the Delivery (Regional Delivery), GIS and Computacenter

 

What you'll need

 

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Portfolio Test Manager or Programme Test Manager
• Exceptional leadership capabilities with the ability to navigate through change and achieve business and technology driven initiatives managing senior stakeholder expectations
• Demonstrable organisational, time management, mentoring and coaching skills leading a team of test experts
• Extensive experience and deep understanding of Quality and Test Assurance best practices as well as the software development lifecycle including Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid methodologies
• Detailed knowledge of formal Test Management methodologies, processes and approaches
• Proven ability to lead and execute quality assurance and test assurance activities demonstrating excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines proving a clear action plan, regular communication, progress updates and take personal ownership and accountability to deliver
• Good demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills to deal with sensitive issues and
• Knowledge and adoption of Prince 2 or similar project management methodologies
• Knowledge and adoption of ISO-IEC-IEEE 29119
• Knowledge and adoption of Test Maturity Model integration (TMMi):
• Knowledge and adoption of ITIL v4 Service Validation & Testing
• Knowledge and adoption of Test Management tools (e.g Quality centre or Spira)
• ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification
• SAFe v6 foundation certification
• Team management development training programmes
• Leadership development training programmes
• This is a global role and the expectation is to provide a global test service

Desirable

• TMMi professional certification
• ITIL v4 certification
• Excellent analytical skills, able to understand e2e solutions and troubleshoot issues
• Knowledge of SAP an advantage
• Knowledge of logistics and technology sourcing an advantage
