Job Description

The Cloud Operations Patching Engineer is responsible for planning executing and validating patch management activities across AWS Azure and GCP environments The role ensures that operating systems platform services and cloud resources remain compliant secure and up to date while minimizing operational impact and business disruption through automation and controlled execution This position focuses on automating patch deployments monitoring patch and vulnerability status and ensuring patching activities align with security compliance and operational standards

Key Responsibilities

Patch Planning Execution

Plan schedule and execute patching activities across cloudbased infrastructure and services

Develop and maintain automated patching workflows to ensure consistent and repeatable execution

Coordinate patch deployments to minimize service impact and support business continuity requirements

Automation Tooling

Implement and support automation solutions for patch deployment validation and monitoring

Leverage cloudnative and thirdparty automation tools to standardize patching operations

Monitoring Compliance Reporting

Monitor patch compliance vulnerability posture and remediation timelines across environments

Track patch status successfailure rates and exceptions

Maintain clear reporting documentation and audit evidence for patching activities

Collaboration Coordination

Work closely with security teams to assess vulnerabilities patch criticality and remediation priorities

Coordinate with cloud operations and application teams to plan maintenance windows and assess patch impact

Support change management and operational processes related to patching

Troubleshooting Continuous Improvement

Troubleshoot patching issues and failures perform root cause analysis where required

Escalate unresolved issues and support resolution across teams

Identify opportunities to improve patching automation reliability and efficiency based on operational feedback

Required Skills

Handson experience with cloud platforms AWS Azure and GCP

Proficiency with patching and automation tools such as Ansible Terraform AWS Systems Manager SSM Azure Automation or equivalent

Strong scripting skills using Python Bash or PowerShell

Understanding of ITIL processes particularly change incident and operational governance

Familiarity with vulnerability management security controls and patching best practices

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in distributed cloud environments

Measures of Effectiveness

Consistent automated and compliant patch deployment across cloud platforms

Reduced manual effort and operational risk during patching cycles

Clear visibility into patch status vulnerabilities and remediation progress
