Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a cloud platform organization responsible for cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, DevSecOps, and reliability. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: the manager will lead people and strategy while remaining close enough to architecture, design reviews, troubleshooting, incident response, and selected engineering work to provide strong technical direction and credibility.

People & Technical Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop platform, cloud, DevOps, and SRE engineers; set clear expectations for ownership, quality, and delivery.
• Develop senior engineers and technical leads through mentoring, feedback, career planning, and practical technical guidance.
• Remain actively involved in architecture, design reviews, code/infrastructure reviews, and complex technical decisions.
• Balance hands-on technical leadership with people management without becoming a delivery bottleneck.

Platform Strategy & Architecture

• Define and execute the cloud platform, developer experience, DevOps, and reliability roadmap.
• Lead architecture decisions across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, identity, and platform services.
• Build scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-efficient platform capabilities and reusable engineering patterns.
• Partner across engineering, security, networking, product, and infrastructure teams to drive technical alignment.

Internal Developer Platform & Automation

• Lead self-service platform capabilities, golden paths, reusable infrastructure modules, and developer tooling.
• Improve developer productivity by simplifying provisioning, deployment, testing, and operational workflows.
• Promote Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform/Terragrunt and maintain strong standards for automation, validation, and change management.

DevSecOps, Reliability & Operations

• Drive secure CI/CD and GitOps practices across build, test, security scanning, deployment, and rollback.
• Embed security and policy controls into platform and delivery workflows.
• Promote service ownership, SLOs, incident management, observability, resilience, and continuous reduction of operational toil.
• Participate in major production incidents, technical debugging, and post-incident reviews.

Delivery, Stakeholders & FinOps

• Own delivery of platform initiatives, managing priorities, dependencies, risks, and measurable outcomes.
• Communicate roadmap progress, technical trade-offs, operational health, and risks to senior stakeholders.
• Partner with Finance/FinOps to improve cloud cost visibility, efficiency, and accountability while balancing reliability and performance.

Hands-On Expectations

• Remain comfortable reviewing and contributing to Terraform/Terragrunt, CloudFormation, Python/Go/Bash, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud architecture.
• Contribute to prototypes, critical automation, complex troubleshooting, migrations, and reliability improvements when required.
• Typically spend approximately 20–30% of time on hands-on technical leadership, depending on business and team needs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience across software engineering, cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE.
• 3–5+ years of engineering management or people leadership experience.
• Recent hands-on experience designing, building, or operating production cloud platforms.
• Strong experience with Terraform/Terragrunt and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security, and automation.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, DevSecOps, observability, incident management, and SLO-driven operations.
• Programming/scripting capability in Python, Go, or Bash.
• Experience balancing delivery, reliability, security, developer productivity, and cloud cost.
• Proven ability to influence architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internal developer platform or Backstage experience.
• Multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud experience.
• Experience with cloud migrations, Kubernetes adoption, or large-scale platform transformation.
• Exposure to Kafka, Redis, managed data services, or regulated environments.
• Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or security certifications.

• Improved platform reliability, SLO achievement, and incident outcomes.
• Higher adoption of self-service platform capabilities and faster service onboarding.
• Reduced manual work, operational toil, infrastructure drift, and recurring incidents.
• Improved security automation and cloud cost visibility/efficiency.
• Predictable delivery of platform initiatives and clear stakeholder alignment.
