The Role

Airbus’ Information Management (IM) Function is seeking a SAP HANA and Data Product Lead. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex quality business processes and high-performance technical architecture. 

As a Data Product Team Lead, you will collaborate with fellow architects, development teams, and other stakeholders to design resilient, feasible, and scalable solutions for our customers. You will also prioritize features that build out the architecture runway, and align with standards. 

To be successful in this role, you need to be a team player with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills.  

What You Bring

• Experience: 7 to 8+ years of solid professional experience in SAP Native HANA development, with a heavy emphasis on advanced WebIDE for HANA and custom SAPUI5/Fiori architectures.

• Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in creating and consuming SAP OData/RAP services, CDS view development, ABAP 7.5+ syntax, Calculation views (Native HANA and WebIDE) and RFC.

• Agile Mindset: Comfort working in distributed, cross-functional teams using Scrum or DevOps methodologies, with a clear focus on stable, "first-time-right" hotfix and feature deliveries.

• Customer Focus: Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a proven track record of directly engaging international business partners (specifically European customers) to translate business evolution points into technical solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

As a Data Product Team Lead, he/she should have a very good understanding of business processes and technical architecture of Airbus SAP landscape and define/suggest SAP best practices and Golden rules. Your area of responsibility will extend to deep technology root cause analysis, performance improvement and source code auditing.

The candidate will join the Quality Product and Service Line structure providing digital solutions to manage quality business processes throughout the Aircraft Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Services organizations. As such, he/she needs to have a strong customer focus. He/she needs to have regular business interactions for identifying & understanding the Business Evolution Points.

The candidate will work in an international, distributed and multi-functional team using an agile mind-set and methodology.

At least seven (7+) years of professional experience developing software with ABAP and Native HANA Development or equivalent technologies.

Proven track record of providing technical guidance, leading software teams, and making critical technical decisions. 

Strong, hands-on experience in code optimization, system performance tuning, and refactoring complex codebases as well as working with relational databases (SQL).

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in SAP UI5 application development following standard design guidelines.

Demonstrated experience diagnosing, debugging, and resolving software issues in live production environments. 

Good technical communication skills, with the ability to confidently articulate complex architectural concepts to both technical team members and business stakeholders. 

Experience working with cloud environments.

Hands-on exposure to In-App extensibility, Fiori Administration, JavaScript, JSON, and XML.

Performance Tuning – ability to analyse and fine tune existing programs.

Excellent communication skills as required to engage customers on requirements and delivery.

Main Responsibilities

• Define architectural direction, evaluate complex technical trade-offs, manage technical debt, and establish robust development practices for the SAP HANA and Skywise(Pallantir) ecosystem. 

• Proactively identify bottlenecks, lead deep code refactoring initiatives, and squeeze peak system performance out of both legacy SAP NATIVE HANA (SAP HANA Studio) and modern WebIDE for HANA Core applications including SQL database optimizations.

• Independently drive complex technical features from architectural design documentation through to successful deployment, ensuring technical initiatives align with SAP HANA and Skywise's broader business goals. 

• Establish operational excellence standards and lead comprehensive code reviews to ensure secure, high-quality deliverables, while championing the strategic integration, mentorship, and team-wide adoption of AI-powered tools and best practices in AI-assisted engineering. 

• Actively guide, support, and nurture the professional growth of junior and intermediate team members, fostering a collaborative, modern, and highly engaged engineering culture. 

• Serve as the technical spokesperson for the team, confidently translating and articulating complex architectural concepts to both technical team members and non-technical business stakeholders. 

• Define/suggest SAP best practices and Golden rules. 

• Perform deep technology root cause analysis and performance improvement

• Performance Tuning – ability to analyse and fine tune existing programs.

• Monitors technology and/or methodology trends and supports the teams to apply these within the Airbus Environment.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience working on Palantir (Skywise).

• Experience with systems integration.

• Experience working on data-driven and event-driven systems (e.g. Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS)

• Knowledge of software security standards and best practices

• Knowledge of Business Application Tool (BAS), GIT and CI/CD tools is a plus, as these are the primary technologies in our organisation
