Job Description
A mechanical maintenance professional ensures the continuous operation, safety, and longevity of industrial equipment and machinery. Responsibilities include troubleshooting breakdowns, executing scheduled preventive maintenance, repairing mechanical parts, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Detect mechanical malfunctions through diagnostic tests, visual inspections, and operational observation.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM): Conduct routine servicing, lubrication, calibration, and inspections to prevent equipment failures and minimize production downtime.
- Repair & Replacement: Dismantle machinery, repair broken or faulty parts, and install new components using hand and power tools.
- Equipment Installation: Assist in setting up, aligning, and calibrating new mechanical systems and utility equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document maintenance activities, equipment history, and parts usage.
- Inventory Management: Track spare parts and supplies, anticipate future needs, and assist in purchasing or replenishing stock.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and regulations (e.g., proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures).
Key Skills & Requirements
- Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and utility equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, HVAC systems).
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, diagrams, and operation manuals.
- Problem-Solving: Capability to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to solve recurring equipment issues.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy loads, and work in varied industrial/manufacturing environments.
- Qualifications: Typically requires an ITI certification, Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical / Maintenance Engineering, paired with relevant work experience.
