Job Description
Responsible for manufacturing, assembling, maintaining, repairing, and modifying precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, molds, and other components used in production. The role requires strong knowledge of machining processes, precision measurement, engineering drawings, and tool-room equipment.
- Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret engineering drawings, tool drawings, and technical specifications.
- Manufacture and assemble dies, punches, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Operate conventional and CNC machines such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, EDM, and drilling machines.
- Perform precision machining, fitting, grinding, drilling, tapping, and finishing operations.
- Set up machines and select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining methods.
- Measure components using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Inspect finished components to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and maintain production dies and tooling.
- Carry out preventive maintenance of dies, tools, and fixtures to minimize production downtime.
- Perform tool try-outs and make necessary corrections to achieve required part dimensions and quality.
- Work closely with production, quality, design, and maintenance teams to resolve tooling-related problems.
- Maintain tool-room records, maintenance reports, inspection records, and documentation.
- Follow safety procedures, quality standards, and 5S practices.
- Required Skills & QualificationsITI/Technical Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Tool & Die Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in tool and die manufacturing, press tools, injection molds, or precision tooling.
- Good knowledge of machining and fitting operations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of CNC machining and basic CNC programming is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and quality procedures.
